About the Role

We are seeking a Data Center Operations Engineer to join our team at Kraken, a leading cryptocurrency exchange. This remote position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about data center engineering and security. As a Data Center Operations Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and enhancing Kraken's infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and performance of our services.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on critical exchange infrastructure.
• Install and manage complex server and network infrastructure.
• Provide hands-on facility support, including equipment installation and decommissioning.
• Manage asset and inventory, ensuring compliance with established practices.
• Oversee contractors and vendors to ensure quality and adherence to local legislation.
• Assist with capacity planning and management, scaling, and interconnecting with other data centers.
• Monitor and maintain all physical infrastructure, responding to critical issues to maximize uptime.
• Travel as needed to support physical data center infrastructure and planning for future expansions.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in data center operations within a security-focused environment.
• Experience working in a large-scale data center environment.
• Knowledge of power, cooling, and airflow management for physical devices.
• Basic understanding of IP addressing, subnets, and gateway configuration.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining technical issues to diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to perform well under pressure with high attention to detail.
• Physical capability to lift over 25 kgs and travel as required.
