Controller - Remote Position at Kraken

About the Role

Join Kraken as a Controller and help shape the future of crypto! As a Controller, you will play a pivotal role in leading our global Corporate Accounting function. This fully remote position allows you to collaborate with a world-class team dedicated to accelerating the global adoption of cryptocurrency.

What You'll Do

• Oversee consolidations, financial reporting, and month-end close processes across multiple international entities.
• Partner closely with Finance and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and process excellence.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and assist with monthly financial statement analytics.
• Lead a Corporate accounting team of 10+, coaching and mentoring to prioritize initiatives and ensure day-to-day tasks are completed efficiently.
• Participate in board meetings and serve as an officer for certain legal entity subsidiaries.
• Design and maintain internal controls and policies in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
• Interact with external auditors to provide timely schedules and explanations for all requests.
• Engage in ad hoc projects and additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA with Big 4 experience preferred.
• 12+ years of corporate accounting/audit experience, including accounts payable, stock-based compensation, and payroll.
• Experience with consolidations in a multiple legal entity international environment.
• Strong background in financial reporting, internal controls, and resolving technical accounting issues.
• Proficiency in using ERP systems and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel functions.
• Excellent presentation skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Industry experience in cryptocurrency, brokerage, exchange, financial services, fintech, or high-growth tech companies is strongly preferred.
