Charging Automation Engineer - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate Charging Automation Engineer to join our team at General Motors. This remote position allows you to contribute to our mission of redefining mobility while working from the comfort of your home. As a Charging Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing automated testing solutions for vehicle charging features, ensuring the highest quality standards in our electrification systems.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts for vehicle charging features using Python, Autobot, and GitHub.
- Define and enforce quality standards, create test plans, and develop testing strategies for web and mobile applications.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using platforms like GitHub Actions to ensure continuous delivery of high-quality testing.
- Promote efficiencies via tool development and identify redundancies and gaps in current processes.
- Identify, log, and track defects using tools like JIRA and work closely with stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, feature owners, and quality engineers to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Guide and mentor others in processes, best practices, frameworks, and tools.
- Adhere to all safety precautions and requirements, treating safety as a top priority during all work activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant technical experience with automation and scripting.
- Strong Python programming skills.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitHub, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate issues effectively.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass MPG advanced driver’s training.
Nice to Have
- Master's degree or PhD in engineering.
- 8+ years of test automation experience, including developing automated tests for web and mobile applications.
- Experience with electrification, calibration, and controls.
- Knowledge of GM electrical architectures and on-vehicle serial protocols.
- High voltage or electrified vehicle safety training and hands-on experience.
