Boilermaker - Remote Position at APTIM

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Boilermaker to join our team at APTIM. This Boilermaker remote position involves assembling, analyzing for defects, and repairing boilers, tanks, vats, and pressure vessels according to blueprints specifications. You will utilize power tools and hand tools to ensure the highest quality standards are met.

What You'll Do

• Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on foundations using master straight edges, squares, transit, and measuring tape.
• Attach rigging and signal crane operators to lift components to specified positions.
• Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frames, tanks, or vats using plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, or turnbuckles.
• Perform flame-cutting, grinding, and fitting of structural parts to facilitate assembly.
• Bolts or arc-weld structures and sections together, ensuring structural integrity.
• Install tubes, nozzles, manways, and attachments to towers, vessels, and tanks.
• Assist in testing assembled vessels by pumping water or gas under specified pressure and observing for leaks.
• Repair boilers or tanks in the field by unbolting or flame cutting defective sections.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with prior experience in boilermaking or a related field.
• Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Strong understanding of shop mathematics and geometry.
• Capability to visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights without fear.
• Knowledge of safety and project rules, ensuring compliance at all times.

Nice to Have

• Experience with pneumatic fasteners and caulking hammers.
• Familiarity with flame cutting and torch use.
• Previous experience in environmental or sustainability projects.
