Behavior Support Specialist - Remote Position
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Behavior Support Specialist to join our team in a remote capacity. In this role, you will develop and facilitate the implementation of functional behavior and inclusion plans at our Expanded Learning Program. As a Behavior Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse behavioral needs, ensuring they receive the guidance and resources necessary for their success.
What You'll Do
- Understand and align the school day's behavior support systems with the after-school program.
- Coach and train program leaders in the implementation of functional behavior and inclusion plans.
- Provide small group and targeted support to address significant behavioral needs.
- Create individualized support plans based on student needs.
- Observe program leaders and provide coaching in effective classroom management guidelines.
- Develop and implement positive behavior incentive programs for classrooms and the entire program.
- Utilize specialized behavior approaches to assist students in improving communication, social, play, motor, self-help, school readiness, and self-management skills.
- Integrate YMCA core values into all behavior support plans.
- Support documentation of behavior logs and reports.
- Communicate with the Site Director and school site to align and collaborate on student cases needing additional support.
- Participate in various activities such as meetings and training to receive and convey information.
- Support additional essential job functions as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience working with children in an educational or behavioral support setting.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with program leaders and site directors.
- Ability to develop individualized support plans based on student needs.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Ability to observe and respond to critical incidents swiftly.
- Physical ability to lead group activities and perform related physical skills.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
Nice to Have
- Experience in coaching or training others in behavior support techniques.

- Certification in behavior management or related fields.
