Backend Developer - PHP Focus for E-commerce Marketplace

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Backend Developer to join our dynamic team at Schwarz Digits. This Backend Developer remote position allows you to work flexibly within Germany, either from the comfort of your home or at one of our vibrant offices located in Cologne, Darmstadt, Düsseldorf, or our co-working space in Berlin. As a Backend Developer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our online marketplace, which serves millions of products from thousands of sellers.

What You'll Do

• Develop scalable and robust backend solutions for our Kaufland Marketplaces and internal services.
• Take ownership of end-to-end feature development, from designing and coding to testing, deployment, and monitoring in production environments.
• Write clean, maintainable, and high-performance code while adhering to best practices.
• Collaborate with your experienced team to tackle challenges and improve existing procedures and processes.
• Stay updated with current e-commerce trends and developments to enhance our offerings.

Requirements

• Completed university studies in (business) information technology, (business) engineering, mathematics, or physics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building several PHP backends in mid to large-scale software projects.
• Solid understanding of APIs, databases, and messaging brokers, along with familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in an international, English-speaking team.
• A passion for continuous improvement and personal development.

Nice to Have

• Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
• Knowledge of modern e-commerce platforms and technologies.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.
