Autonomy Software Systems Engineer - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Autonomy Software Systems Engineer remote to join Kodiak Robotics, a leader in autonomous ground transportation. Our mission is to create a safer and more efficient future through our AI-powered technology stack. As an Autonomy Software Systems Engineer remote, you will play a crucial role in developing algorithms for safe driving behavior in self-driving vehicles.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with Autonomy Software teams to derive requirements for safe perception, localization, prediction, motion planning, and control algorithms.
- Identify edge cases to expose weaknesses in our systems before they are encountered in real-world scenarios.
- Provide analysis to support complex autonomy system design trade-offs, informing decisions that affect safety and performance.
- Support the development of simulation scenarios, structured track testing, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Contribute to the safety claims regarding perception, motion planning, and control for autonomous robots.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of kinematics, dynamics, and system modeling.
- Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C++, or C.
- Hands-on experience with sensor fusion and object tracking techniques.
- Familiarity with machine learning methods and classical computer vision techniques.
- Experience in motion planning and control systems.
- Strong foundation in probability and statistics.
- Knowledge of autonomy system architectures and system-level design.
- Exposure to safety-critical standards such as ISO 26262 or DO-178.
Nice to Have
- Experience with safety analysis methodologies.
- Understanding of redundancy strategies and fault-tolerant system design.
- Familiarity with SOTIF and safety case development.
