Assistant Teacher - Early Childhood Education
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Teacher to join our team at Easterseals Blake Foundation. This role involves supporting the implementation of appropriate curriculum in a classroom setting for toddlers and preschool-aged children. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in making profound, positive differences in children's lives every day. This position is essential in fostering a nurturing and educational environment that meets the developmental needs of each child.
What You'll Do
- Assist the lead teacher in maintaining a home-like classroom environment that enhances learning based on the developmental needs of the children.
- Implement the curriculum developed by teachers, ensuring it reflects the age and experience of the children.
- Adapt curriculum and interactions to meet the individual needs, strengths, and interests of the children.
- Establish partnerships with parents and families to achieve shared goals for children.
- Encourage children to lead their own small group activities and foster interaction among them.
- Maintain strict confidentiality concerning children and families while documenting each child's progress.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain comprehensive communication within the agency.
- Model professional standards and ethics in accordance with the EBF Code of Conduct.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required; Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) preferred.
- Willingness to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a current, unrestricted AZ driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance.
- CPR and First Aid certification (provided by the employer).
- Knowledge of typical and atypical child development and developmentally appropriate educational practices.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team atmosphere.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with children with developmental challenges.

- Basic computer knowledge for record-keeping and documentation.
