Assistant General Counsel - Litigation (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel - Litigation to join our team at Kraken. As an integral part of our legal department, you will play a key role in managing complex litigation matters and ensuring our legal strategies align with our mission to accelerate the global adoption of crypto. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned litigator who is passionate about the crypto space and wants to make a significant impact in a fully remote environment.

What You'll Do

• Lead and manage Kraken’s global civil litigation portfolio, providing strategic oversight across various litigation types.
• Direct outside counsel both in the U.S. and internationally, setting expectations for strategy, budget, and quality control on all major litigation matters.
• Oversee complex dispute categories including consumer class actions, commercial disputes, employment litigation, IP threats, and international regulatory appeals.
• Develop and execute cross-border litigation strategies, including jurisdictional challenges and arbitration enforcement.
• Collaborate with Product Legal, Compliance, Employment Legal, and Security teams to mitigate pre-litigation risks and assess early cases.
• Contribute to Litigation’s process uplift initiatives and provide executive-level reporting and risk assessments to senior leadership.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience in litigation, particularly in financial services or technology.
• Admission to practice law in the US, UK, or Canada.
• A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with an opportunity-making attitude.
• Strong interest in the crypto industry and its legal landscape.
• Experience resolving client legal threats in technology or financial services is a plus.

• Experience with international regulatory frameworks and compliance.
• Familiarity with crypto-related legal issues.
