About the Role

We are seeking an Account Receivable Clerk - Remote to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the U.S., allowing you to tackle challenging tasks while contributing to our mission of improving health data flow and enhancing the healthcare system. As an Account Receivable Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring maximum reimbursement on accounts and resolving billing issues.

What You'll Do

  • Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable for all payers, including self-pay, and resolve denials.
  • Handle all correspondence related to insurance or patient accounts, contacting insurance carriers and patients as needed.
  • Research and resolve accounts appearing on Delinquent Insurance Reports and Collection Ledgers.
  • Assist patients with inquiries and validate insurance and billing information.
  • Review medical records to confirm service dates and provider information.
  • Prepare claims for manual and electronic billing submission, including correcting and resubmitting claims.
  • Maintain a professional attitude while interacting with patients, co-workers, and management.
  • Meet productivity standards based on internal operational goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 2+ years of medical billing experience within a physician practice.
  • 2+ years of accounts receivable follow-up experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work full-time during normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST.

Nice to Have

  • Medical billing and coding certification.
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records.
  • Familiarity with New Jersey No-Fault & Workers Compensation billing.
  • Experience with Out of Network billing.
