Voice-Over Artist for YouTube Channel - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Voice-Over Artist for our YouTube channel, fern, to help bring our stories to life. This remote position is perfect for individuals who can deliver narration with depth, clarity, humor, and emotional insight. As a Voice-Over Artist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our well-researched video essays and documentaries that cover a wide range of topics, from power and politics to science and culture.

What You'll Do

• Record voice-over for scripted video essays (1–2 videos/month initially, with potential for more).
• Bring a consistent tone and personality to the channel’s voice.
• Help shape the long-term sound identity of fern, ensuring it resonates with our audience.
• Collaborate with producers to enhance the pacing, tone, and clarity of each story.
• Deliver clean finished audio tracks and identify any clunky lines or factual issues in scripts.

Requirements

• Fluent English speaker; a Nordic accent is a bonus.
• A unique, memorable voice that is clearly not AI-generated.
• A natural, raw tone that feels emotionally in tune, avoiding overly theatrical or stiff delivery.
• Genuine interest in topics such as politics, society, history, and culture.
• Comfort with reading long-form, essay-style scripts with clarity and subtlety.
• Willingness to commit to a regular schedule: approximately 60–90 minutes of VO recording per video.

Nice to Have

• Experience in journalism or a related field.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a creative team environment.
• Experience with audio editing software.
