System Administrator - Projects Support (Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking a talented System Administrator - Projects Support to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). This role focuses on the administration of Linux clusters and IT services, ensuring smooth operations for our high-performance computing initiatives. As a System Administrator - Projects Support remote position, you will play a crucial role in supporting our diverse projects and day-to-day activities.
What You'll Do
- Install, maintain, and resolve issues related to IT services, including mail, web, databases, and servers.
- Configure and administer various storage subsystems and backup systems.
- Manage BSC's HPC and Quantum supercomputing resources.
- Oversee BSC cloud platforms, including OpenStack, OpenNebula, and Ovirt.
- Travel to assist with project events or workshops as needed.
- Support European projects such as Seanergies and others.
Requirements
- A degree in IT or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in system administration of Linux platforms.
- Experience in managing HPC clusters is a plus.
- Development in scripting will be beneficial.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud platforms and virtualization technologies.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies.
- Familiarity with European research projects.

Who Will Succeed Here
