Staff Developer Advocacy Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Developer Advocacy Engineer to join our remote team in the United States. This fully remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on the Interactive Learning Plugin, enhancing the user experience within Grafana. As a Staff Developer Advocacy Engineer, you will ship real product code that impacts both Grafana Cloud and Grafana OSS, making this a pivotal role in our organization.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build delightful interactive learning experiences inside Grafana.
• Ship features that enhance the learning experience, ensuring they are smooth and scalable.
• Improve the end-to-end learner experience from onboarding to completion.
• Enable contribution and authoring workflows for non-engineers to create and improve learning content.
• Support private guides and experiences that enhance user engagement.
• Implement completion tracking that is trustworthy and motivating for users.
• Instrument learning flows to understand user behavior and identify areas for improvement.
• Utilize AI-driven development workflows to enhance productivity and speed.

Requirements

• Strong experience in AI-assisted development using tools like Claude Code or Cursor.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals with a focus on production-grade changes.
• Experience using Grafana in real environments, understanding observability practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively, including writing documentation and design notes.
• Experience with TypeScript and/or Go is a plus.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and the broader observability ecosystem.

Nice to Have

• Meaningful open source contribution or maintainer experience.
• Full-stack development experience.
