Senior Systems Administrator - AWS & SQL Focus (Remote)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to join our team remotely. In this role, you will manage and optimize both cloud and on-premise infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance in a fast-paced government environment. Your expertise in AWS, SQL databases, and systems administration will be crucial to our success.

What You'll Do

  • Administer, monitor, and optimize enterprise infrastructure across Windows, Linux, and cloud platforms.
  • Configure, patch, and maintain Windows Server (2012 R2–2022) and IIS environments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, highly available cloud and network architectures.
  • Manage AWS environments (required), with experience in Azure (preferred) and GCP (nice to have).
  • Support middleware platforms, APIs, automation tools, and batch services.
  • Perform server performance tuning, troubleshooting, and operational support.
  • Collaborate with developers, vendors, and internal IT teams to implement infrastructure improvements.
  • Provide daily operational support and lead resolution of complex technical issues.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in systems and infrastructure administration.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server (2012 R2–2022) and IIS.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS; Azure and GCP experience is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls) and security best practices.
  • Experience with DevOps tools, automation, and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred).
  • Proficiency in Linux administration (RedHat and Ubuntu).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and identity management platforms.
  • Experience in a government or regulated environment.
