Senior Substation Physical Designer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Substation Physical Designer to join our dynamic team at Sargent & Lundy. This remote opportunity allows you to work on high and extra high voltage substation design projects while collaborating with engineers and other designers. As a Senior Substation Physical Designer, you will play a crucial role in preparing various substation drawings, contributing to the success of our projects.

What You'll Do

• Prepare substation drawings including General Arrangement, Electrical Equipment Plans, Section Views, and more.
• Interpret vendor information and incorporate it into design deliverables.
• Perform walkdowns at client facilities to ensure design accuracy.
• Apply client's standards and guidelines related to the work.
• Mentor junior designers and drafters, sharing your expertise and knowledge.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in substation physical design.
• An Associate's Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize equipment details and clearances in 3D.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (speak, read, and write).

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Bentley Substation Design.
• Knowledge of design techniques and principles for technical plans and blueprints.
• Experience with engineering science and technology applications.
