About the Role

Scopely is looking for a Junior Server Engineer to join our Yahtzee! With Buddies team. This Junior Server Engineer remote position offers a unique opportunity to work on a beloved mobile game while collaborating with a passionate team. You will gain hands-on experience in building scalable systems that impact millions of players daily.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement new features and improvements that enhance player experiences.
• Develop clean, well-structured, and production-ready code that may be included in future software releases.
• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to solve complex technical problems, including distributed systems and data challenges.
• Contribute to performance improvements, reliability enhancements, and scalable architecture.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team learning sessions.

Requirements

• Curiosity, proactivity, and a team player attitude.
• Recently graduated or currently in a junior position in the software industry.
• Previous experience in software engineering is preferred.
• Strong coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures.
• Familiarity with software engineering processes and tools.
• Knowledge in at least one object-oriented programming language (previous job or personal projects).

Nice to Have

• Interest in building large-scale gaming systems.
• Experience with Cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, DynamoDB) and key-value databases like Redis.
• Interest in games and the gaming industry.
