Senior Staff Software Engineer - Engineering Productivity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering Productivity team at Verkada. This Senior Staff Software Engineer remote position focuses on enhancing our infrastructure, particularly with Bazel and C++. You will play a crucial role in optimizing our engineering processes, allowing our team to deliver high-quality software efficiently.

What You'll Do

• Define and execute the engineering tooling roadmap to enhance productivity.
• Own the deployment and development tooling for Kubernetes.
• Build and maintain software and hardware testing frameworks.
• Provide technical support to engineers across various teams.
• Contribute to team growth and development initiatives.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong background in C/C++ build systems (Make, CMake, Meson, etc.).
• Deep understanding of C/C++ compilation, linking, and dependency management.
• Proven experience with Bazel in large-scale monorepo environments.
• Proficiency in authoring and maintaining custom Bazel rules.

Nice to Have

• Experience with bzlmod (Bazel's modern dependency management).
• Familiarity with cross-platform C/C++ builds (Linux, macOS, Windows).
• Background in firmware development and deployment.
