Senior Software Development Test Engineer - AI/​ML Focus

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Development Test Engineer to join our innovative team at Tekion, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our AI-native backend services and platform systems. As a Senior Software Development Test Engineer, you will own the test automation strategy and work closely with backend engineers, product managers, and platform architects to drive quality across our systems. This Senior Software Development Test Engineer remote position allows you to work from anywhere while contributing to a transformative automotive platform.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and scale automated test frameworks for Java microservices built on hexagonal architecture.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test suites, including functional, integration, regression, contract, and end-to-end testing.
• Validate Kafka event pipelines and ensure data integrity across multiple databases.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to embed quality early in the design and implementation phases.
• Own release quality and define quality gates in CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead root cause analysis for production issues and mentor junior QA engineers.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in QA Engineering, Test Automation, or SDET roles.
• Strong test automation expertise using modern Java-based frameworks and familiarity with Python.
• Experience testing distributed microservices and REST APIs.
• Proficient in using Testcontainers for integration testing.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience validating AI/ML model outputs.
• Exposure to contract testing and service virtualization.
• Background in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering practices.
