Senior Product Designer - Civic Tech

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Product Designer to join Votely's mission of making civic engagement simple and rewarding. As a Senior Product Designer, you will own the end-to-end user experience, from the moment someone lands on our site to when they take their first civic action. This is a fully remote role, and we welcome US-based candidates. You'll collaborate directly with founders, engineers, and users to create intuitive, accessible, and delightful design flows. This Senior Product Designer role offers high ownership and direct impact on the product direction.

What You'll Do

• Own the design of core user flows: landing, quiz, results, recommendations, and action-taking.
• Lead design for new product surfaces, including our Local Action Hub.
• Build and maintain our design system, including components, patterns, and documentation.
• Conduct user research through interviews, usability tests, and data analysis.
• Partner closely with engineering to ensure designs are implemented with high fidelity.
• Contribute to product strategy and roadmap prioritization.
• Establish design processes and best practices as we grow the team.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience as a Product Designer or a strong portfolio from bootcamp/self-taught.
• Portfolio demonstrating product thinking and interaction design, not just visual design.
• Proficiency in Figma, including components, auto-layout, and prototyping.
• Understanding of accessibility principles and inclusive design.
• Ability to articulate design rationale and take feedback constructively.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing responsive web applications, with a mobile-first approach preferred.
• Experience at a startup or consumer product company.
• Familiarity with front-end development (HTML, CSS, React).
• Experience with motion design and micro-interactions.
• Background in user research.
• Interest in civic tech or social impact.
