Senior Network Engineer - Remote Opportunity in Boston Area
About the Role
We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join our growing team in delivering exceptional service to our customers. This Senior Network Engineer remote position requires applicants to be located in the Boston or Quincy MA area as you will be required to be on-site as needed 1-2 days a week. In this role, you will take the lead in supporting a large and important customer environment, while also lending your expertise to a diverse portfolio of smaller customers and teammates as needed.
What You'll Do
- Quickly assess and resolve network-related incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Perform firmware updates, patches, and upgrades across all network devices.
- Monitor network health and performance, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical diagrams.
- Provide timely updates and clear communication to stakeholders during incidents and maintenance activities.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 network support when needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in network engineering roles, with a focus on enterprise-scale environments.
- Expertise in Cisco, HPE, and Dell switches, as well as SonicWall, Fortinet, Meraki, and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Hands-on experience with policy configuration, troubleshooting, high availability, and optimization of firewalls.
- Proficiency with physical and virtual F5 load balancers, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting municipal environments and SLED (State, Local, and Education) sector expertise.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certification.
