Senior Network Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer - Remote to join Baker Construction Enterprises. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting our enterprise and job-site network infrastructure. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a leading specialty concrete contractor while enjoying the flexibility of remote work.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, manage, and support enterprise and job-site network infrastructure.
  • Configure and maintain routing, switching, firewall policies, VLANs, and network segmentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and connectivity issues.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and security to ensure optimal operation.
  • Gather and validate network requirements for new offices and job sites.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BoMs) for required network and connectivity equipment.
  • Deploy and validate network infrastructure, providing on-site support when necessary.
  • Manage relationships with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and coordinate connectivity solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in network engineering supporting enterprise and distributed environments.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Fortinet networking and security technologies.
  • Proficient with enterprise networking technologies including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and VPN solutions.
  • Strong experience with Ubiquiti, FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiSwitch, FortiAPs, and FortiVPN.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking and security concepts, particularly within Microsoft Azure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Strong analytical, evaluative, and troubleshooting skills with keen attention to detail.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) strategies.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices such as NIST and CIS.
  • Ability to mentor junior analysts and demonstrate a positive team attitude.
