Senior Legal Counsel - Remote Position at Aztec

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join our innovative team at Aztec. This Senior Legal Counsel remote position will allow you to work closely with our General Counsel, navigating the complex legal landscape of the crypto and fintech industries. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring compliance and developing internal processes across various departments.

What You'll Do

• Draft and negotiate a variety of legal contracts, including code audit review agreements and advisor engagement agreements.
• Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Build and improve internal contract templates and manage the company’s legal documentation database.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners on legal implications across strategy, product development, and compliance.
• Manage the company’s internal corporate affairs, including board processes and timely filings.
• Conduct legal research and analysis, attending policy meetings to stay updated on regulatory developments.
• Work closely with the operations team and manage relationships with external counsel and policy groups.

Requirements

• JD, LLB or equivalent with 5+ years of UK or US qualified legal experience, preferably in crypto or fintech.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks relevant to web3, including financial market regulations and securities laws.
• Proven problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Deep understanding of or passion for crypto and privacy.

Nice to Have

• Experience in a global law firm or substantial in-house legal department.
• Familiarity with open-source development law.
• Experience in managing corporate affairs and compliance.
