Senior Corporate Counsel - Privacy & Data Protection

PagerDuty is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to join our dynamic team. This Senior Corporate Counsel remote position offers the opportunity to tackle complex legal challenges while collaborating with talented professionals in a flexible work environment. What You’ll Do

  • Scale and mature PagerDuty’s global privacy program, implementing self-help resources, training, tools, and systems.
  • Collaborate with our Commercial Legal and Deal Desk teams to provide clear and concise counsel on privacy issues for customer deals, including Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) and questionnaires.
  • Provide practical legal advice on marketing and advertising legal issues, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Develop solutions to legal issues by understanding PagerDuty’s business and technical operations.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Counsel, Procurement Counsel, and Security Managers, to support various privacy matters and initiatives.
  • Maintain awareness of the privacy and marketing/advertising legal landscape as PagerDuty’s subject matter expert.
  • Monitor and analyze emerging laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to privacy and data protection.
  • Advise on trends and best practices to prepare for the future of privacy law.

Requirements

  • A law degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar in good standing.
  • 6+ years of applicable legal experience at a leading law firm, in-house legal department, or governmental agency.
  • 3+ years of hands-on privacy experience.
  • Deep understanding of GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy frameworks.
  • Solid experience advising on marketing and advertising legal issues.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with adtech implementation and marketing consents.
  • Passion for the intersection of law and technology.
