About the Role

We are seeking a talented Royals Writer/Reporter to join USA TODAY Entertainment in a remote capacity. This role focuses on delivering fast, accurate, and engaging news about the British royal family. As a Royals Writer/Reporter, you will help shape a new vertical within our entertainment content, utilizing cutting-edge AI tools and vertical video storytelling to connect with a broad, digital-first audience.

What You'll Do

• Generate original news stories, features, and analysis on the British royal family, including major events, public appearances, and lifestyle coverage.
• Develop and maintain reliable contacts and sources within the royals space for exclusive reporting.
• Monitor breaking news and trending topics related to the British royal family and similar dignitaries.
• Produce timely, accurate, and compelling content in various formats, including written articles and vertical video segments.
• Utilize AI-driven tools for research and content optimization to maximize reach and engagement.
• Collaborate with editors and multimedia teams to create visually engaging vertical video and social-first content.
• Participate in editorial meetings, pitch new story ideas, and contribute to the strategic growth of USA Today's royals coverage.
• Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic ethics, including fact-checking and source verification.

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years of reporting or writing experience in entertainment journalism.
• Experience covering the royal family or celebrity news.
• Established network of contacts within the royals beat.
• Ability to produce fast, accurate, and engaging content under tight deadlines.
• Experience using AI tools for news gathering and story production.
• Proficiency in creating vertical video content for platforms like Instagram Reels and TikTok.
• Excellent news judgment and ability to identify compelling stories.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
