Remote Staff Data Analyst - Data-Driven Decision Maker

About the Role

We are looking for a Remote Staff Data Analyst to join Weedmaps, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping how our business understands and leverages data insights. As a Remote Staff Data Analyst, you will be a key thought leader, assisting senior leadership in transforming their objectives into actionable data strategies that drive multi-million dollar decisions. Your expertise in SQL and your proactive nature will enable you to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and publish valuable insights for the broader cannabis industry.

What You'll Do

  • Develop high-quality, scalable analytic and data products, dashboards, and reports using Streamlit.
  • Partner with executives from Product, Marketing, Revenue, and other departments as their data strategist, becoming a trusted thought partner.
  • Lead the migration from Tableau to a new BI solution, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Design and build executive dashboards that facilitate data-driven decision-making.
  • Mentor junior colleagues, enhancing the quality and sophistication of analysis and visualization across the team.
  • Create reusable tools that empower other analysts to build upon your work, amplifying the team's impact.
  • Proactively identify data opportunities and publish insights that influence strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment in data strategies and objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar role, with a strong focus on data strategy.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with data visualization tools.
  • Experience leading BI tool migrations, particularly from Tableau.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Experience mentoring junior analysts and improving team capabilities.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and challenges within data.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the cannabis industry or related fields.
  • Familiarity with Streamlit or similar dashboarding tools.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and modeling techniques.
