About the Role
We are looking for a Remote Senior Data Scientist to join our team at Weedmaps. In this role, you will leverage your analytical expertise and technical skills to shape the future of our people-facing and business-facing products. You will work with rich and unique data sets to help define the experiences we build for millions of cannabis consumers, businesses, and brands.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Finance to address a wide array of product and business challenges.
- Utilize data and models to identify and solve problems across all facets of our business.
- Uncover insights and recommendations that will shape product development and quantify new opportunities.
- Help partner teams prioritize initiatives, set goals, and understand their product’s ecosystem.
- Develop hypotheses and employ a diverse toolkit of analytical approaches to test them.
- Tell compelling data-driven stories that influence decision-making.
- Partner with the ML team to build and deploy production models and applications to enhance our products and processes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong focus on data analysis and modeling.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or R.
- Strong understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Ability to work with large, messy, and complex data sets.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the cannabis industry or related fields.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of SQL and database management.
