Remote College Admissions Counselor (Fluent in Mandarin)

About the Role

We are seeking a Remote College Admissions Counselor to join our dynamic team at Empowerly. This role is perfect for individuals fluent in Mandarin who are passionate about guiding high school students through the college admissions process. As a College Admissions Counselor, you will play a crucial role in helping students achieve their academic goals and navigate the complexities of college applications.

What You'll Do

• Advise and support up to 25 students, providing personalized guidance tailored to their unique needs.
• Keep up to date with current college admission changes and trends to offer the best advice.
• Create academic and extracurricular roadmaps that align with students' aspirations.
• Assist students in developing meaningful summer plans, including internships and research opportunities.
• Guide students through the entire application process, including personal statements, essays, and recommendation letters.
• Help students strategize their college lists and application timelines, including early action and regular decision plans.
• Discuss financial aid resources and merit scholarship opportunities with students and families.
• Attend monthly team meetings and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the counseling process.

Requirements

• Fluency in Mandarin, with strong oral and written communication skills.
• Graduation from a top 50 national university; advanced degrees are a plus.
• Experience as a college counselor with a proven track record of student acceptances into top universities.
• Availability in the afternoons and weekends to meet with students.
• Passion for education and a talent for teaching and essay writing.

Nice to Have

• Former admissions officers at top colleges.
• Experience as an independent college counselor (NACAC, WACAC, IECA).
• Familiarity with graduate school admissions processes.
