About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Application Engineer specializing in CNC and sheet metal to join our dynamic team at Xometry. As a key player in our engineering and sales teams, you will leverage your expertise to analyze CAD models and technical drawings, ensuring that we provide accurate and timely quotes for our customers. This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in manufacturing processes and a passion for problem-solving.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze CAD models and technical drawings to assess manufacturability.
  • Calculate manufacturing costs, including materials and machining hours.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to enhance quoting accuracy.
  • Document and communicate calculations effectively to the Sales and Engineering teams.
  • Review 3D models and 2D drawings for manufacturability feedback.
  • Organize Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and clarify details with relevant teams.
  • Maintain and update quote databases to ensure timely responses.
  • Support process automation initiatives and workflow optimization efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in metalworking or mechanical engineering.
  • Expert knowledge of machining and fabrication processes, including turning, milling, and CNC machining.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with process automation technologies.
  • Previous experience in a sales engineering role.
