Principal Product Designer - AI & Automation Focus
About the Role
PagerDuty is seeking a Principal Product Designer to join our team in Toronto. As a Principal Product Designer, you will lead the design strategy for our AI and Automation team, ensuring that our AI capabilities are intuitive and transformative for technical operations teams. What You'll Do
- Define and drive the design vision for PagerDuty's AI and automation capabilities, including AI agents.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with AI/ML engineers, product managers, and data scientists to create intuitive user experiences.
- Establish design principles for AI transparency and user control, building confidence in autonomous systems.
- Mentor designers on AI/UX best practices, fostering a culture of innovation.
- Conduct strategic research to understand how technical teams adopt AI-driven insights in mission-critical contexts.
- Partner with product leadership to shape the AI and automation roadmap, balancing innovation with user needs.
- Represent design in executive discussions and contribute to company-wide AI strategy.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in product design, UX design, or interaction design focused on complex technical products.
- 3+ years of experience designing for AI/ML products or automation platforms.
- Demonstrated experience leading design strategy and influencing product direction.
- Portfolio showcasing expertise in AI/UX and intelligent agent experiences.
- Experience designing for developer tools or technical operations products is preferred.
Nice to Have
- Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts including LLMs and generative AI.
- Track record of establishing design systems that scale across product teams.
- Strong thought leadership through speaking or writing in the design community.
