Nuclear Facilities Systems Engineer - Onsite Role
About the Role
We are seeking a Nuclear Facilities Systems Engineer to join our team at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This position will be filled at either the Nuclear Facilities Systems Engineer 1 or Nuclear Facilities Systems Engineer 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. As a Nuclear Facilities Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the Plutonium Infrastructure Engineering Division (PIE-DO), contributing to innovative systems engineering solutions that support national security.
What You'll Do
- Ensure that design solutions fully meet requirements and design intent.
- Develop and manage requirements, traceability reports, and verification and validation (V&V) plans.
- Collaborate with project managers and a multidisciplinary team to support project execution.
- Apply systems engineering principles to solve complex problems and maximize project performance.
- Lead the development and review of requirements for new systems and modifications at the Systems Engineer 2 level.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- 2-3 years of practical work experience in systems engineering.
- Basic understanding of systems development and engineering principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate engineering solutions effectively across various roles.
Nice to Have
- Experience with systems modeling languages or requirements management tools such as DOORS®.
- Current registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE).
- Familiarity with engineering codes and standards relevant to nuclear facilities.
