About the Role

Elia Group is seeking a highly experienced M&A and Business Development Manager to join our team remotely. In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing the Group’s M&A agenda, working closely with the Head of IR, M&A and Financial Partnerships. This position offers the chance to collaborate with key internal stakeholders across strategy, finance, innovation, legal, digital, and business units.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the assessment and execution of M&A opportunities across the energy transition value chain, from preliminary screening to due diligence, valuation, structuring, negotiation, and closing.
  • Conduct robust financial modeling, scenario analysis, and investment case development to support strategic decisions.
  • Coordinate internal and external advisors (financial, legal, technical) involved in M&A processes.
  • Support the preparation of investment papers, governance approvals, and management presentations.
  • Serve as a bridge between corporate functions (strategy, finance, innovation, digital) and external partners to ensure strategic alignment and smooth execution.
  • Prepare high-quality management reporting, analytics, dashboards, and forecasting related to M&A activity, partnerships, and investment performance.
  • Provide input to Investor Relations communications where M&A intersects with the Group’s equity story.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of relevant professional experience in M&A, corporate finance, strategy consulting, investment roles, or within funds—ideally in the energy, digital, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of the energy transition, digital business models, and infrastructure investment dynamics.
  • Proven end-to-end M&A experience (screening to closing), with the ability to manage complex processes and multiple stakeholders.
  • Solid financial modeling and analytical skills—data-driven and structured in your decision-making.
  • Curiosity and a growth mindset: continuously seek to improve processes, be challenged intellectually, and explore new trends.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills—you can build trust, convince senior decision-makers, and represent Elia Group externally.
  • A collaborative and proactive attitude; thrive in cross-functional environments and take initiative naturally.
  • Highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical behavior.
  • Strong written and spoken English; German, French, and Dutch are assets.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the energy sector or related fields.
  • Knowledge of digital business models.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure investment dynamics.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary package, allowance for representation expenses, year-end bonus, double vacation pay, meal vouchers (€8 per working day), eco-vouchers, sport & culture vouchers, bonuses based on individual and group results.
  • Group insurance, hospitalization insurance, ambulant care insurance for the whole family, and personal accident insurance.
  • 20 vacation days plus 5 additional vacation days, 6 local days, 4 exempt days (after 1 year of employment), and up to 5 long-service days.
  • Year-end vouchers, birth and marriage allowance, and coverage for part of the cost of glasses or dental prosthesis.
  • An iPhone, phone subscription (for work and private use), and a laptop with internet reimbursement.
  • A 30% discount on your gas and electricity bill.
