M&A and Business Development Manager - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
Elia Group is seeking a highly experienced M&A and Business Development Manager to join our team remotely. In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing the Group’s M&A agenda, working closely with the Head of IR, M&A and Financial Partnerships. This position offers the chance to collaborate with key internal stakeholders across strategy, finance, innovation, legal, digital, and business units.
What You'll Do
- Drive the assessment and execution of M&A opportunities across the energy transition value chain, from preliminary screening to due diligence, valuation, structuring, negotiation, and closing.
- Conduct robust financial modeling, scenario analysis, and investment case development to support strategic decisions.
- Coordinate internal and external advisors (financial, legal, technical) involved in M&A processes.
- Support the preparation of investment papers, governance approvals, and management presentations.
- Serve as a bridge between corporate functions (strategy, finance, innovation, digital) and external partners to ensure strategic alignment and smooth execution.
- Prepare high-quality management reporting, analytics, dashboards, and forecasting related to M&A activity, partnerships, and investment performance.
- Provide input to Investor Relations communications where M&A intersects with the Group’s equity story.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.
- 7–10 years of relevant professional experience in M&A, corporate finance, strategy consulting, investment roles, or within funds—ideally in the energy, digital, or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong understanding of the energy transition, digital business models, and infrastructure investment dynamics.
- Proven end-to-end M&A experience (screening to closing), with the ability to manage complex processes and multiple stakeholders.
- Solid financial modeling and analytical skills—data-driven and structured in your decision-making.
- Curiosity and a growth mindset: continuously seek to improve processes, be challenged intellectually, and explore new trends.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills—you can build trust, convince senior decision-makers, and represent Elia Group externally.
- A collaborative and proactive attitude; thrive in cross-functional environments and take initiative naturally.
- Highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical behavior.
- Strong written and spoken English; German, French, and Dutch are assets.

- Experience in the energy sector or related fields.
- Knowledge of digital business models.
- Familiarity with infrastructure investment dynamics.
