Lexicon Linguist - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a Lexicon Linguist - Remote to support the development of a lexicon in accordance with strict formatting requirements and detailed guidelines. This is an exciting opportunity for linguists who are passionate about phonetics and language. You will work remotely, allowing for a flexible schedule while contributing to a project that aims to enhance linguistic resources.

What You'll Do

• Create phonetic transcriptions using the IPA or SAMPA phonetic alphabet for English (Singapore).
• Compile the lexicon with a close set of phonemes.
• Ensure idiomatic fluency in English (Singapore) is maintained throughout the project.
• Utilize your postgraduate degree in linguistics with a specialization in phonetics to inform your work.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-quality results on a tight schedule.

Requirements

• Postgraduate degree in linguistics, specializing in phonetics.
• Experience using the IPA and SAMPA phonetic alphabets.
• Prior experience with linguistic data, particularly phonetic data.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Idiomatic fluency in English (Singapore) is required.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with additional phonetic transcription systems.
• Experience in lexicon development or similar linguistic projects.
• Knowledge of other languages and their phonetic structures.
