Junior System Engineer - IT & Network Support

About the Role

AOI is hiring a Junior System Engineer to join our team in Sugarland, Texas. This Junior System Engineer remote position offers an exciting opportunity to support the provisioning, deployment, configuration, and administration of core IT systems and infrastructure. You will work closely with senior system architects and cybersecurity teams to maintain a secure, stable, and scalable IT environment.

What You'll Do

• Assist with the administration and maintenance of Active Directory and Group Policy in collaboration with System Architecture and Cybersecurity teams.
• Manage and support Windows Server environments, including patching and Windows updates.
• Provide technical support for PCs, servers, VMware ESXi hosts, NAS systems, and video conferencing tools.
• Diagnose, repair, and resolve hardware and software issues; communicate effectively with impacted departments.
• Support network monitoring, troubleshooting, and outage resolution, escalating issues as needed.
• Collaborate with network architects on system and network optimization initiatives.
• Research and recommend innovative or automated solutions to improve system administration efficiency.
• Maintain accurate system documentation and assist with updates as required by management.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in Systems, Network, or IT Help Desk support.
• Foundational understanding of computer systems and networking concepts.
• Knowledge of PC and MS Server configuration.
• Familiarity with network routers, switches, and firewalls (hardware and software).
• Basic understanding of system monitoring tools and IT infrastructure.
• Experience supporting enterprise IT environments.
• Exposure to VMware ESXi, NAS systems, or similar infrastructure.
• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
• Familiarity with Office 365 / Microsoft 365.
• Knowledge of network troubleshooting and proxy servers.
• Experience with VOIP and video conferencing platforms.
