About the Role

Join The Exploration Company as a GNC Engineer and contribute to the development of our innovative Nyx spacecraft. This GNC Engineer role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge spacecraft technology while enjoying the benefits of remote work and relocation assistance.

What You'll Do

  • Participate in the design and implementation of the AOCS/GNC subsystem for various spacecraft missions, including LEO operations and docking.
  • Design, synthesize, test, and validate GNC algorithms to enhance spacecraft performance.
  • Implement GNC code into Flight Software, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Develop high-fidelity 6 degrees of freedom models and simulations for system performance analysis.
  • Conduct multi-disciplinary spacecraft systems trades to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop software automation tools for GNC design, analysis, testing, and reporting.
  • Validate GNC software through rigorous testing methods, including Monte Carlo analysis.
  • Report test results with a focus on efficiency and automation in documentation.

Requirements

  • MSc. in Aerospace or related engineering discipline.
  • Strong understanding of classical dynamics, orbital mechanics, and control techniques.
  • Experience in flight physics simulation and software development in C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of German or French is a plus.
  • Passionate about advancing the commercial space industry.
  • Highly motivated to thrive in a fast-paced, autonomous startup environment.

Nice to Have

  • Higher degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with spacecraft GNC concepts and applications.
  • Familiarity with software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
