Contract Senior Platform Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Contract Senior Platform Engineer - Remote to join Upwork, a leading online platform that connects freelancers with clients. In this role, you will contribute to the operations of existing installations and new Kubernetes-based solutions within Upwork’s Hybrid Workforce Solutions Team. This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects that support enterprise clients, particularly in AI Large Language Model (LLM) training.

What You'll Do

• Support operations and troubleshooting of Kubernetes-based solutions.
• Collaborate with the technical user community to enhance security, resilience, observability, and control across applications.
• Work with AWS cloud infrastructure and container orchestration platforms.
• Utilize tools like Terraform and ArgoCD for infrastructure provisioning.
• Embrace diversity in knowledge and experience while fostering an inclusive workforce.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
• Implement service mesh solutions as needed.
• Engage in hands-on experience with microservices architectures.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Proficiency in Python or Bash scripting.
• Experience with AWS components such as VPC, IAM, EC2, EKS, and ECS.
• Familiarity with Terraform and ArgoCD.
• Understanding of DevOps/GitOps best practices.
• Experience with security best practices.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
