Compliance Director - Remote Position at Bitso

About the Role

We are seeking a Compliance Director - Remote to join our team at Bitso, the leading cryptocurrency platform in Latin America. In this role, you will lead and drive compliance duties and strategies to ensure our operations are legal and ethical. You will be responsible for developing compliance and AML/TF programs, reviewing company policies, and advising management on internal controls and potential risks. This position is critical in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements set by the Brazilian Central Bank and other relevant authorities.

What You'll Do

• Enhance and manage the organization's compliance and AML/TF programs to ensure operations align with federal laws and regulations.
• Assess and take full ownership of the Brazilian Compliance team’s needs, tasks, and define the strategy for the area.
• Verify compliance with procedures and documentation required by competent authorities.
• Ensure compliance with orders related to AML/TF matters, including account securing or unblocking.
• Develop and review company policies to maintain compliance standards.
• Coordinate audits with regulators and independent auditors.
• Plan, implement, and oversee risk-related programs.
• Oversee the internal audit function to identify weaknesses or risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in law, finance, business management, or a related field.
• 7-10 years of proven experience in a compliance officer or manager role, preferably in the financial services industry.
• Knowledge of Brazilian Central Bank regulations and global compliance requirements for Payment Institutions.
• Experience in risk management and internal controls.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Hands-on approach with the ability to adapt.
• Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
• Professional Compliance certification.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in the crypto industry.
• Experience as a Director registered within the Central Bank of Brazil.
• Additional AML certification.
• Good understanding of blockchain technology.
