Commissioning Project Manager - Transforming Children's Services
About the Role
We are seeking a Commissioning Project Manager to join Camden Council in a pivotal role focused on transforming support for children and young people across North Central London. This remote Commissioning Project Manager position is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the community and have a strong background in project management within social care, education, or health sectors.
What You'll Do
- Lead complex, multi-agency projects across social care, health, and education, ensuring effective project delivery.
- Manage multi-borough governance arrangements and ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations for children’s homes.
- Oversee the establishment of an innovative community mental health intensive support team aimed at preventing unnecessary placements and family breakdown.
- Develop business cases, financial forecasts, and project plans while monitoring expenditure and implementing commissioning plans.
- Engage in co-production with young people, parents, and carers to ensure their voices shape the design and delivery of services.
- Report to relevant boards and external bodies on the progress and effectiveness of commissioned services.
- Collaborate across agencies and partnerships to enhance service delivery and outcomes for children and families.
- Present policy and strategy to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders.
Requirements
- Strong experience in social care, education, health, or a related field, with a proven track record in commissioning services for children and families.
- Experience managing the full commissioning cycle, including budgets and expenditure.
- Demonstrated success in project management and delivery of improved outcomes within agreed timescales.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships across organizations and borough boundaries.
- Flexibility and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
- Capability to analyze and present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Commitment to working constructively with children, young people, and their families.
Nice to Have
- Experience in leading commissioning processes and ensuring services deliver value for money.
- Knowledge of mental health services and community support systems.
- Familiarity with financial management and reporting.
