About the Role

We are seeking an Assay Technician for a remote opportunity to join our team at Kinross Gold. As an Assay Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of samples submitted to the Assay Laboratory. What You'll Do

  • Accurately log, track, and enter sample data in logbooks and electronic databases.
  • Perform sample preparation including drying, crushing, splitting, pulverizing, and fire assay.
  • Conduct fire assay, titrations, ICP, AAS, LECO, or other instrumental analysis as required.
  • Prepare reagents, standards, and solutions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform routine housekeeping and preventative maintenance on laboratory and preparation equipment.
  • Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Identify and report analytical discrepancies or equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and safe work practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Assay lab experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with careful, methodical work habits.
  • Ability to identify missing, contaminated, or abnormal samples.
  • General understanding of mining and processing operations.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and data entry systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis.
