Staff Software Engineer - Market Making (Remote)

About the Role

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer - Market Making (Remote) to join our growing Market Making Engineering team at FanDuel. This position involves working on innovative software that quotes, prices, and manages risk in real time for high-volume sports markets. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to tackle complex challenges and provide exceptional experiences for millions of players.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and implementation of low-latency, event-driven services that span the full RFQ/quote lifecycle.
• Collaborate with quantitative analysts and trading/risk stakeholders to implement market making strategies.
• Propose pragmatic solutions to complex problems while mentoring junior engineers.
• Ensure high-quality code by following best practices and conducting thorough testing.
• Engage in technical discussions and assist in designing and implementing solutions.
• Track security risks and mitigate them in a timely manner.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team planning activities.
• Build and evolve components that support real-time quoting and decision-making.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline.
• 7+ years of industry experience in Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science, Finance Engineering, or Statistics.
• Proficient in modern OOP languages (C#, Java) and understanding of performance and memory management (C, C++, Rust).
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline tooling and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS).
• Familiarity with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence and provide on-call support.
• Experience building event-driven systems with observability and safe rollout patterns.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous learning.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm).
• Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka).
• Familiarity with backtesting/simulation and strategy evaluation workflows.
