Staff Software Engineer - Backend Development for FinTech

About the Role

We are hiring a Staff Software Engineer to join our team at EarnIn, a leading fintech company that provides earned wage access. This Staff Software Engineer remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative solutions that enhance financial flexibility for individuals living paycheck to paycheck. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop key platform services that make a meaningful impact on our community members' lives.

What You'll Do

• Drive the design and implementation of new features in our backend systems.
• Break down complex problems into their essentials and create high-quality, clean code.
• Collaborate with other engineers, providing mentorship and guidance through code and design reviews.
• Contribute to defining technical direction and planning the roadmap for our projects.
• Estimate and manage project timelines and risks effectively.
• Continuously learn about new technologies and industry standards in software engineering.
• Work cross-functionally with teams including Analytics, Design, Product, Marketing, and Data Science.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in JVM languages such as Java, Kotlin, or Scala, and experience with frameworks like Spring or ASP.NET Core.
• Hands-on experience in cloud environments like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka or SQS.
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices throughout the software development life cycle.
• Experience with databases like DynamoDB, MySQL, and ElasticSearch.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and microservice architecture is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with advanced AI tools and multi-agent coding assistants.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and delivery tools.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
