Senior SQL Server Database Administrator - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team in a fully remote capacity. As a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our SQL Server environments, ensuring high availability and performance. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting database migration and modernization projects while collaborating with various teams to support our IT infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Assess existing SQL Server databases for migration readiness and plan migrations between versions and platforms.
• Execute database migrations while ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
• Install, configure, maintain, and monitor SQL Server environments to optimize performance.
• Manage backup and restore strategies, including full, differential, and transactional backups.
• Troubleshoot production database issues and implement solutions effectively.
• Manage roles, permissions, and access control to ensure database security and compliance.
• Implement encryption and database security best practices, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and vendor teams to coordinate database administration and support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (experience may substitute year-for-year).
• 5+ years of experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA.
• 1+ year of experience migrating application databases between versions and platforms.
• Strong experience with Backup/Restore strategies.
• Proficiency in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and T-SQL.
• Experience managing roles, permissions, and encryption.

Nice to Have

• Experience implementing Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
• Expertise in database design and normalization.
• Familiarity with PowerShell scripting.
