Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Media Services (Remote)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Media Services team. This Senior Software Engineer remote position offers a unique opportunity to tackle challenging technical problems while contributing to the development and operation of cloud services that drive innovative consumer video applications. You will be part of a high-performing team that is redefining streaming and transforming how content creators engage audiences through cloud-native innovation.

What You'll Do

• Design, implement, validate, and document components of a distributed, service-oriented architecture.
• Ensure focus on availability, scalability, observability, and testability of the services.
• Automate and ensure reliable deployment of services end-to-end, including foundational infrastructure and dependencies.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices, driving innovation within the organization.
• Launch new cloud services and establish operational excellence.
• Collaborate with architects and technical leads to achieve the technical vision of the team.
• Work effectively across geographically distributed engineering teams.
• Ensure compliance with software development standards and best practices.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or related field with 3+ years of software development experience.
• Experience with modern programming languages, particularly Java and/or Go.
• Proven experience in large-scale software development for cloud services and distributed systems.
• Background in video streaming, real-time communications, or social networking systems is a plus.
• Experience with Kubernetes for developing, deploying, and operating highly scalable cloud microservices.
• Understanding of cloud infrastructure (compute, identity, network, storage) and deployment automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Chef, Puppet).
• Familiarity with maintaining highly available services in a DevOps environment.
• Experience collaborating with geographically distributed teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience in media services, specifically video.
• Knowledge of failure root cause analysis processes.
• Strong soft skills alongside technical acumen.
