Senior Payroll Manager - Remote Opportunity with Relocation Support
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Payroll Manager to join our dynamic team. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to lead payroll operations for a large international company, while also providing relocation support for the right candidate. You will oversee multi-state U.S. and multi-province Canadian payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance in a high-volume environment.
What You'll Do
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls for salaried, hourly, tipped, seasonal, and union employees across multiple states in the U.S. and Canada.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a payroll team of 28 direct and indirect reports, fostering a culture of achievement and collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, maintaining a strong performance management background.
- Communicate effectively with team members to enhance unity and camaraderie.
- Create and process reports to support executive management, Human Resources, and other departments as needed.
- Act as a payroll representative to service providers, ensuring high levels of customer service and issue resolution.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information and data files while continuously evaluating and improving payroll processes.
- Manage payroll turnaround times for responses, pay corrections, and reporting, while being open to minimal travel as required.
Requirements
- Current CPP certification is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of payroll experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in organizations with over 10,000 employees and knowledge of U.S. multi-state and Canadian provincial tax regulations.
- Excellent customer service skills and hands-on experience in identifying issues and areas for improvement.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead and follow as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and payroll systems.
- Multi-state experience, including California, is required; Canadian payroll experience is preferred.
