Senior Millwork Design Engineer - Architectural Woodwork

About the Role

AlphaX is seeking a Senior Millwork Design Engineer to join our innovative team and support the engineering and technical development of custom architectural woodwork and millwork projects. This Senior Millwork Design Engineer remote position is essential for translating design concepts into precise production-ready drawings and technical documentation used in fabrication and installation.

What You'll Do

• Develop detailed millwork shop drawings, engineering documents, and fabrication packages for custom architectural woodwork projects.
• Translate architectural drawings and design intent into production-ready technical drawings.
• Coordinate closely with project managers, estimators, and production teams during project development.
• Review architectural plans, specifications, and design documents to identify engineering requirements and constraints.
• Ensure millwork designs meet industry standards, fabrication requirements, and installation considerations.
• Support the submittal process including shop drawings, RFIs, and revisions during project execution.
• Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure accurate interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Assist with value engineering opportunities to improve manufacturability and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in architectural millwork, custom casework, or commercial woodworking engineering.
• Strong experience producing millwork shop drawings and fabrication documentation.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microvellum, or other millwork design software.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, and specifications.
• Knowledge of millwork materials, fabrication methods, and installation practices.
• Experience coordinating with project managers, designers, and fabrication teams.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple active projects.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
