Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team remotely. In this role, you will plan, organize, execute, monitor, and control the design and engineering activities. You will be responsible for translating and optimizing the as-sold functionality into a working mechanical design within budget, collaborating with various disciplines.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and engineering activities for mechanical interfaces with customers and subcontractors.
• Participate in scope clarification to ensure a clear understanding of project requirements.
• Engage in project planning, scheduling, and coordination activities.
• Prepare flow diagrams, system layouts, and master equipment lists (MEL/BOM).
• Understand technical tender documents and prepare technical compliance sheets.
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to prepare RFQs and data sheets for all mechanical equipment.
• Oversee the preparation of GA drawings, interface drawings, and installation drawings.
• Conduct clash reports using Navisworks and resolve clashes with the team, customers, and subcontractors.
• Lead the team in preparing installation drawings/documents and provide instructions to the site installation team.
• Ensure proper project documentation and preparation of system concept steel designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum 5-8 years of experience in material handling system design.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with practical hands-on experience in mechanical equipment and design calculations.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and knowledgeable in Navisworks.
• Excellent project coordination skills, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Adaptability and flexibility to navigate changing project requirements and priorities.
• Preferred experience in designing automated machines and material handling capital equipment.
• Able to travel to project sites as needed.
