Senior Design Engineer - Aerospace Innovations

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our innovative team at Relativity Space. This Senior Design Engineer remote position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace technology, specifically our Terran R vehicle, which is designed to meet the growing demand for launch capacity. As a Senior Design Engineer remote, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of aerospace engineering, collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex design challenges.

What You'll Do

• Design vehicle structures at various maturity phases, from conceptual to critical design.
• Create initial drawings and execute revisions based on engineering or manufacturing changes.
• Own the vehicle Bill of Materials (BOM) configurations, mass inputs, and part release schedule.
• Define and manage interfaces between vehicle subsystems using appropriate control documents and models.
• Develop design process improvements through simplification or automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical or integrated design.
• Advanced CAD skills, particularly with NX and Teamcenter.
• Fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing.
• Experience with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, and Y14.41 standards.

Nice to Have

• Experience in development, packaging, and configuration management of complex hardware products.
• Knowledge of aerospace vehicle fabrication and assembly techniques.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
