Senior Arborist - Urban Forestry Management
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Arborist to join our urban forestry team in Saskatoon, Canada. As a Senior Arborist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and safety of our urban forest, ensuring that our community benefits from well-cared-for trees. This Senior Arborist remote position offers the opportunity to lead tree maintenance programs and supervise a team of arborists.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate tree maintenance and training activities for urban forestry pruners.
- Supervise and evaluate pruners, ensuring adherence to safety policies and departmental guidelines.
- Provide technical support for various aspects of the urban forestry program.
- Conduct tree health assessments and hazard evaluations.
- Participate in public education initiatives related to tree care and maintenance.
- Assist in the development of short- and long-range planning for tree maintenance.
- Maintain records related to the urban forestry program and computerized tree inventory.
- Support a positive workplace culture through safety initiatives and training programs.
Requirements
- Grade 12 education and possession of a Certified Arborist designation from the International Society of Arboriculture.
- A minimum of five years of related tree maintenance experience, including two years in a supervisory role.
- Successful completion of a recognized tree-climbing course and aerial lift training.
- Valid Saskatchewan Class 5A Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations as they pertain to urban forestry operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and establish relationships with the public and civic employees.
- Physical capability to perform arboricultural duties and operate various equipment safely.
- Experience with GPS technology and computerized environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience in public education and community engagement related to urban forestry.
- Additional certifications in first aid and CPR.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary range of $34.78 to $38.35 CAD per hour, translating to an annual salary of approximately $72,000 to $79,600 CAD.
