About the Role

We are seeking a Scientific Advisor - Stem Cell and Gene Therapy Remote to join our team at DLR. This position is crucial for supporting health research and innovation in the fields of stem cell and gene therapy. As a Scientific Advisor, you will contribute to groundbreaking projects that aim to improve healthcare outcomes through advanced research methodologies.

What You'll Do

  • Provide expert support to the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia (MKW NRW) in the "Cluster Medicine.NRW" initiative, focusing on health research.
  • Analyze research, development, and application in the fields of stem cell research and gene therapy.
  • Evaluate position papers and recommendations, and contribute to strategic statements and strategies.
  • Engage in program-related communication, knowledge transfer, and editorial preparation of funding activities.
  • Continuously monitor the research landscape and provide insights to interested scientists.
  • Review submitted funding applications and oversee funded projects, ensuring effective transfer of research results into practice.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in health and natural sciences to create proposals and strategically position the cluster.

Requirements

  • Completed scientific university degree in a life sciences discipline or human medicine; alternatively, another relevant scientific degree with suitable study content.
  • Initial professional experience in stem cell research and/or gene therapy, demonstrated through a PhD, scientific publications, or patents.
  • Expertise in the structured assessment of research and development projects in health research and biomedicine.
  • Excellent command of German and proficient English skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability and willingness to work in interdisciplinary teams and think across disciplines.
  • Willingness to travel for work, including multi-day trips.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks in the mentioned fields.

  • Experience in project management within the healthcare sector.
  • Familiarity with funding processes and grant writing.
  • Established network within the scientific community.
