Remote Lead Artist - Narrative-Driven Game Development
About the Role
We are looking for a passionate Remote Lead Artist to join our team at Ghost Story Games. As a Lead Artist, you will play a crucial role in creating immersive narrative-driven experiences for our upcoming game, Judas. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with industry veterans, including Ken Levine, the Creative Director known for his work on System Shock 2 and the BioShock series. You will be instrumental in shaping the visual storytelling of the game, ensuring that every environment contributes to a compelling narrative.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with the Art Director and Creative Director to define and refine thematic spaces within the game world of Judas.
- Lead a team of level artists, concept artists, and 3D artists to deliver immersive and memorable player experiences.
- Utilize your expertise in environmental art to craft spaces that enhance gameplay and narrative.
- Support the development of environmental themes and visual identities that align with the game’s lore and scripts.
- Work closely with level artists and quest pods to ensure environmental spaces are set up correctly and function as intended.
- Partner with technical teams and QA to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to environmental design.
- Contribute to the overall vision of the game by ensuring that all visual elements support the gameplay experience.
- Engage in team collaboration to realize a shared vision and maintain high standards of visual storytelling.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in game development as a Lead Artist or similar role.
- Strong portfolio showcasing narrative-driven environmental art and level design.
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Maya, Blender, or Unreal Engine.
- Experience working on AAA titles or similar high-quality projects.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide and inspire a team.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of visual storytelling and environmental design principles.
- Passion for creating engaging and immersive game experiences.

- Experience with dynamic environmental systems and interactions.
