Remote Application Engineer - CNC & Sheet Metal Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Application Engineer specializing in CNC and Sheet Metal to join our dynamic team at Xometry. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to support our Sales and Engineering teams, ensuring that we deliver high-quality manufacturing solutions to our clients. As a Remote Application Engineer, you will analyze CAD models and technical drawings, assess manufacturability, calculate costs, and provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to ensure accurate and timely quoting for our customers.

What You'll Do

• Analyze drawings and CAD models in English to determine manufacturability.
• Calculate manufacturing costs, including materials, machining hours, and post-processing.
• Provide recommendations on manufacturing processes where needed.
• Document and transfer calculations to the Sales/Commercial team for accurate quoting.
• Review 3D models and 2D drawings for quoting and manufacturability feedback.
• Organize RFQs and clarify details with Sales and Engineering teams.
• Maintain quote databases and ensure timely updates.
• Deliver high-quality and accurate quotes ideally within 1–2 working hours.
• Support process automation initiatives and workflow optimization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in metalworking or mechanical engineering.
• Expert knowledge of machining and fabrication processes, including turning, milling, and CNC machining.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in CAD software and technical drawing interpretation.

Nice to Have

• Experience with process automation and workflow optimization.
• Familiarity with manufacturing cost estimation tools.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in CNC machining.
